Abstract: |
Two trenches totalling an area of just under 80m2 were excavated by machine across the line of a linear boundary feature in advance of track construction. These confirmed the presence of a ditch associated with that monument. Relatively recent deposits of chalk had been laid across the upper surviving levels of ditch deposits apparently to reduce erosion and sinking of vehicles. No excavation of in situ fills of the ditch was undertaken. [Au] |
