Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was undertaken during the installation of a new rainwater drainage system and lightning conductors around the whole Cotehele house complex and within the main Hall Court. Cotehele House was the main seat of the Edgcumbe family and was arguably the most important late medieval and Tudor manor in Cornwall. A small amount of Cornish medieval micaceous coarseware was recovered but service installations in the past had destroyed any other substantial archaeological remains. It was recommended, however, that any future development on the site should be kept to a minimum, and if any should take place that it should be closely monitored. [AIP] |
