Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a residential development which lay close to the historic core of Adderbury. Bronze Age and Iron Age artefacts had been found 200m from the site. During the evaluation, medieval pits and ditches and a number of post-medieval walls were recorded. One wall appeared to have been an early boundary, whilst others may have represented structures recorded on a map of 1793. Medieval and post-medieval pottery was recovered, whilst large animal bones were recovered from the surface of a possible pit. A metalled surface, a modern gully and two possible post holes were noted. It was concluded that several areas of the site had archaeological potential. [Au(adp)] |
