Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a day centre, which lay close to a farm which was believed to have 14th century origins. A large number of archaeological sites and findspots had been recorded in the surrounding area. During the evaluation, 18th or 19th century brick and tile rubble and a sherd of pottery were recovered from layers thought to have been associated with a mid-19th century pond. A wall dating from the time of the pond's construction was also recorded. It was concluded that ancient deposits were unlikely to be disturbed during redevelopment, and that no further archaeological work would be necessary. [AIP] |
