Abstract: |
Seven large pits were observed during the watching brief, five of which were post-medieval. This suggested that the area had suffered major disturbance in recent years. It was possible that the largest of the pits were also used to extract the limestone natural. The remains of a wall were seen at the front of the plot although this was not securely dated. A small quantity of Saxon and medieval pottery attested to earlier activity in the vicinity. [Au(adp)] |
