Abstract:
There had been a suggestion that the area had been laid out to avoid areas of gravel extraction. Excavation revealed evidence for a late 19th century backland building of some size, possibly a workshop associated with a nearby foundry. No supporting evidence for this was found however. The design of the buildings suggested industrial or commercial use. [Au(abr)]
