Abstract: |
All six test pits were excavated by machine onto the top of the natural bedrock chalk, which was overlain by a thick mixed deposit of grey/brown silt clays. This deposit followed the gradual slope of the natural and was walled by a series of dump deposits derived from the cutting of terraces for the buildings fronting the High Street. A thick deposit sealed all of the garden areas. [Au(abr)] |
