Abstract: |
Observations were made during the excavation of foundation trenches for an extension at a site which lay within a Conservation Area, and was situated on the projected line of the town ditch. A number of artefacts were recovered, including medieval slashed ware jug handles and body sherds, a thimble, oyster, bone and 18th century pottery. It was concluded that the footings had probably disturbed the upper levels of the ditch fill, but had remained within its bounds. [AIP] |
