Abstract: |
During the evaluation the earliest deposit exposed, a loam, yielded broadly 13th century pottery and was cut by three features, one perhaps a wall-robber trench. These features, probably dating to the Dissolution of c.1538, were filled with demolition debris, containing late medieval and early to mid 16th century pottery and building materials. Documentary sources showed that the site may have been occupied, perhaps by a fuller or similar tradesman, in the early medieval period, but was brought into the bounds of the Franciscan Friary in c.1275.[Au(abr)] |
