Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was undertaken at Manor Cottage during the excavation of garage foundations. Although no significant archaeological deposits were observed, several sherds of 12/13th century pottery possibly associated with the former Manor were retrieved from a small sondage excavated by hand to reveal the natural clay. This clay was exposed in only the east side if the excavation area at a depth of approx. 0.50m below the existing ground level and was overlain by a layer of mixed soil and rubble. [Au(adp)] |
