Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of a proposed development area was undertaken. Aerial photographs of the site revealed a series of agricultural remains, including lynchets, ridge and furrow and disused field boundaries, many of which appeared to relate to earlier cartographic sources. During a field inspection, seventeen sites were identified, some of which could also be discerned on the photographs. Features included ponds, mounds and shallow depressions or pits which may have been clay extraction sites. Areas where the pre-enclosure agricultural landscape may have survived were noted. An archaeological evaluation was recommended. [Au(abr)] |
