Abstract: |
An excavation in advance of a residential development revealed the site to be located on the route of a major Roman road, known as Via Devana. This was believed to be the major route between Colchester and Chester, and the excavation revealed further continuation of this route as well as an adjacent ditch. Probable post-medieval industrial activity was located to the north of the road. [Au(abr)] |
