Abstract: |
The archaeological potential of the site for an extension to the cemetery of Holy Trinity Church, Godmanstone was investigated by the excavation and recording of two trial trenches. Trench 1 was excavated through a slight lynchet bank and revealed a soil build up immediately overlying a buried ditch. While the ditch could not be dated by the few undiagnostic finds present, the overlying bank was considered of recent formation. Trench 2 was excavated through topsoil and a shallow hillwash subsoil onto natural chalk bedrock, no archaeological features or finds were present in Trench 2. [Au] |
