Abstract: |
<summary>An archaeological watching brief was maintained during groundworks for a floodlighting scheme and during tree-planting. Works for the floodlighting scheme revealed layers of recent date but of uncertain interpretation, possibly representing a spread of rubble dug out from the outer moat or building debris from the stable block. All artefacts recovered were of 19th century date. The holes dug for tree-planting were located on a slope running into the inner moat and the excavated ground thus comprised re-deposited material, in two cases containing large quantities of building debris, but not {italon}in situ{italoff}. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
