Abstract: |
An evaluation/excavation was carried out at Bow Green prior to a proposed development. In addition a magnetometer survey was carried out. The evaluation had been prompted by a number of linear and circular crop marks identified on aerial photographs. On excavation the initial archaeological interpretation was of a ditched enclosure containing four animal pens. However, a growing number of inconsistencies threw the archaeological integrity of the site into question and resulted in a total reassessment. It is probable that the site was predominantly natural.
