Abstract: |
An archaeological excavation took place at St John's Church, it was associated with the replacement of a defective sewer pipe. Three phases of church floor were excavated and eight or nine graves associated with the initial use of the burial ground were excavated. No in-situ human remains were found in any of the graves. Three lead lined coffins were also noted, they were not investigated but were assumed to contain human remains. A pit of probable early medieval date was also observed. [Au(abr)] |
