Abstract: |
Two geotechnical test pits were archaeologically observed as part of an evaluation prior to the proposed construction of residential units across the site. Test pit one revealed the brick lining of a cellar. Bricks within the backfill of this cellar appeared to predate that of the cellar lining. This cellar had removed any underlying archaeological layers. Test pit two revealed a brick footing which cut into a sterile grey clay. An underlying layer may have represented a garden soil of pre-19th century date . No datable finds were present, but no post-19th century brick fragments were either. [Au(adp)] |
