Abstract: |
A watching brief was required as a condition of planning permission prior to preparation of land for sports pitches. No significant archaeological features were recorded but finds included flint flakes possibly discarded from a flint axe 'factory'. Flint mines lay just over the hill. The medieval and post-medieval finds seen were likely to have been the result of nightsoiling - so giving a period of use for arable cultivation on the field of about the last 500 years. [Au(adp)] |
