Abstract: |
<summary>A single trench was excavated on the north side of Mill Lane, the course of which was thought to preserve the line of the north-west section of the medieval town defences, on land proposed for a sheltered housing development. The northern end of the proposal site was found to have been disturbed by modern cellars and a soak-away drain, whilst the stratigraphy of the southern end of the site comprised bands of Northampton Sand and Ironstone less than 0.1 metres below the modern ground surface. No features or artefacts of earlier than 19th century date were located. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
