Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the ground reduction for a new road scheme linking the Botley Road with Hythe Bridge Street and Park End Street. This scheme involved groundworks on the site of the LMS building and its forecourt to a depth of approximately 1.5m. A large ditch was found as well as the remnants of an associated man-made bank of mid-17th century date, which probably formed part of the CIvil War defence of west Oxford. [Au] |
