Abstract: |
A fieldwalking survey on a site proposed for mineral extraction recovered a broad scatter of worked flint corresponding with an area of known cropmarks. Evaluation trenching of the cropmarks confirmed the presence of two extensive double-ditched linear boundaries, one of which may have been contemporary with a ring-ditch of possible Bronze Age date and a rectilinear enclosure of Middle Iron Age date. Both the ring-ditch and the rectilinear enclosure were shown to be of more than one phase. The enclosure contained evidence of remodelling of internal occupation areas. [Au(adp)] |
