Abstract: |
The deposits encountered in all three trenches were all very similar in nature, containing soil, mortar and rubble. The deposits in Trenches 1 and 2 either abutted or covered the remains of two late post-medieval or early modern walls aligned east to west. There was no sign of earth floor deposits associated with either of these walls and it was not clear whether they would have been internal within a structure or external walls within a garden area. As there was no sign of garden soil the former was considered more likely, the two walls perhaps forming a corridor at the rear of a srtucture fronting onto Tufton Street.[Au(abr)] |
