Abstract: |
The assessment investigated and identified human activity around the Gannel Estuary beginning as early as the Mesolithic period, through the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval periods. The medieval period covered religious sites, settlements, quarries, mills, fishing, farming, mining/smelting, communication, trade and quays, shipbuilding, shipwrecks and hulks. All surviving elements were significant in understanding the economic and social development of the area through time. [Au(adp)] |
