Abstract: |
The evaluation was undertaken prior to the proposed residential redevelopment of the site. There had been many disturbances in the modern period as a result of alterations to the buildings standing on the Toft Green frontage and a number of features, which related to recent use of these buildings. The most significant feature identified was a clay-lined cut with a well-formed brick and stone base, which included a complete grindstone as one of its component parts. This feature was associated with a considerable amount of lime mortar and was interpreted as a mortar-mixing pit. [Au(abr)] |
