Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was conducted during topsoil stripping operations in advance of an extension to the existing quarry. During a previous watching brief for a previous extension in 2000 a prehistoric henge-form barrow was identified, recorded and excavated. The 2004 watching brief identified three small pits of prehistoric date that may have been associated with the barrow. One of the pits also contained cremated animal bone. A fourth pit of probable medieval date was also revealed. This feature probably represented a saw-pit. [Au(adp)] |
