Abstract: |
<summary>Desk-based assessment established that a stretch of the A30 proposed for improvement between Temple and Higher Carblake on Bodmin Moor passed through a complex multi-period landscape. Ritual monuments of the later Neolithic and Early Bronze Age were located in the study area, alongside evidence of settlement of Bronze Age, Iron Age and Romano-British date. Documented medieval sites in the study area included the settlements of Trancreek, Pennant, Stokely and Penstroda, and known medieval features included two disused longhouses below Temple Tor, traces of a field system containing ridge and furrow earthworks, and Peverell's Cross and a stone waymark cross on the edge of the moor. A number of post-medieval and later settlement and industrial sites were also highlighted. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
