Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out during ground reduction and foundation trenching related to a new extension on the eastern side of the present house/mill. Although no evidence of the earlier mill building was encountered, the remains of later alterations to the mill complex were revealed immediately to the east of the present kitchen extension. Features located, included a soil embankment, a mill pond clay lining, a projecting Ragstone walled annex, a stone lined drain/channel, retaining wall, a millrace culvert and a ragstone bridge.
