Abstract: |
Lord and Lady Arundel wished to have a swimming pool constructed in the north bailey of Arundel Castle, the filtration plant was to be placed in the mural tower. In order to gain Scheduled Monument Consent an archaeological evaluation had to be conducted. An intrusive investigation of the swimming pool area, and the planned pipe route outside the curtain wall was undertaken. A non-intrusive examination of the mural tower, and an examination of the under floor area of the tower were also carried out. Little of archaeological value was discovered and it was felt that the proposed works could continue as planned. [Au(adp)] |
