Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out to ensure groundworks would not threaten archaeological remains. Observations revealed that although most of the site had been quarried and backfilled, a small remnant of undisturbed ground survived in the northern part of the site. This small area produced 50 sherds of Bronze Age pottery from a brickearth subsoil, and one sherd from a shallow oval feature containing burnt material that was cut into the subsoil. Environmental samples recovered evidence of former vegetation and land-use patterns. [Au(abr)] |
