Abstract: |
Evaluation took place at a site which was thought to lie on, or adjacent to, the line of the Bichamditch or Devil's Ditch, a large linear earthwork of either Iron Age or Early Saxon date. Prior to construction of a proposed dwelling and garage. No trace of any ditch or bank was seen. A series of late 19th or early 20th century rubbish pits and post holes containing much Edwardian and later detritus probably related to the occupation of the cottages to the north, which did not pre-date the late 19th century.
