Abstract: |
Intermittent watching briefs were undertaken during the erection of eight lamp posts on an area of land to the north of Rochester High Street and outside the medieval 'east' wall of the city. Previous excavations in the 1960s had revealed evidence of a nineteenth century rubbish deposit. Features relating to a 1960s building were revealed as well as a black soil with oyster shells, perhaps part of the nineteenth century midden. Nothing else of archaeological significance was revealed. [AIP] |
