Abstract: |
<summary>Desk-based assessment and field appraisal were undertaken of a proposed open cast coal site. The documented site of the manorial hall of the de Warton family may lie on the same site as the existing Whorlton Hall; further investigation is recommended. There are also several farmhouses of 17th and 18th century date which will be affected by the coal extraction. Post-medieval industrial activity is attested by documentary and field name evidence. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
