Abstract: |
An archaeological trial trench evaluation was undertaken and comprised the machine-excavation of 32 trenches totalling c.2880sqm in area and represented a four percent sample of the entire site. The work identified three remnant areas of post-medieval ridge and furrow, along with two undated post holes and a series of later 19th and early 20th century field drains. A single sherd of Roman pottery (Severn Valley ware) was recovered from topsoil during the excavation of trench four. The evaluation confirmed that the site was of low archaeological potential.
