Abstract: |
A desk-based assessement supported by preliminary field survey of land proposed for reclamation works on a site containing remains associated with the former Dolcoath Mine, the largest, richest and deepest of the Cornish mines, was undertaken. Field survey identified that most of the upstanding features of an area formerly thick with engine houses, ancillary buildings and dressing floors had gone, although foundations of the structures probably survived below the current surface level. A large number of shafts were documented within the proposal area but all surface traces had been removed. [AIP] |
