Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out in advance of proposed new hospital buildings. Three trenches were machine excavated within the footprint of the proposed buildings. Two negative cut features were identified, a rubbish pit believed to have dated to the 11th or 12th centuries located in Trench 1 and a shallow irregular gully of uncertain date in Trench 2. Both Trenches 2 and 3 showed evidence for extensive disturbances presumably related to the wooden buildings that formerly occupied the site. [Au(adp)] |
