Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken of Broome Park stable block in advance of proposed alterations. Broome Park was built in 1635-8 and is one of the finest examples of decorative 17th century brickwork in the country; the stable block was built at the same time, and in the 19th century a further range was added to the rear. The evaluation consisted of written descriptions and drawings of the elevations, and a drawn ground plan. Further work in the form of a watching brief over alterations was recommended, as was more survey work, particularly as the roof structure had not been recorded in any way. [Au(adp)] |
