Abstract: |
Four trenches were excavated in order to evaluate the archaeological potential of a proposed development site. Trench 1 in the northern part of the site, uncovered a series of pits, post settings, gullies and pottery dated to the medieval period. As well as the robbed remains of a chalk built structure of late medieval/early post-medieval date. Another, better preserved chalk built structure of similar date was revealed in Trench 2. Trench 3 in the western area and Trench 4 in the southern area of the site illustrated the build up of deep hill-wash deposits, apparently in the medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
