Abstract: |
Evaluation recording at South Condurrow (King Edward Mine) was undertaken prior to shaft capping. The project was designed to locate and record any surviving structures associated with the shafts, and to ensure the minimum of damage to any remains by providing information which could guide the design of engineering works for shaft capping. A tramway, a possible loading platform for the tramway and the remains of a sub-rectangular building were recorded near Plantation Shaft. Near Junction Shaft the ground was pocked with small pits and hollows, likely to be a combination of earlier outcrop workings and the remains of contemporary spoil dumps. The remains of the flue and chimney of an arsenic calciner were also recorded. [Au(adp)] |
