Abstract:
In field 9, the survey data indicated that the previously recorded concentration of archaeological anomalies, thought to have represented former settlement, were extensive and continued outside of the current study area. To the west of this, a second group of archaeological anomalies had also been recorded. This second group was more indistinct and had probably been damaged by ploughing. Nevertheless, it appeared to comprise a number of enclosures and a broad linear feature which may have been a trackway. It was probable that the two groups of remains were connected, which would have represented an expansive complex of archaeology. The northern margins of the data appeared relatively clear of possible archaeological responses. Within Field 10, survey had recorded a large number of pit-type responses and areas of increased magnetic response. It was thought that these were of archaeological interest by had suffered a degree of plough damage. In both fields, survey had also located a number of trends, many of which were attributed to ploughing, although a number may have had an alternative explanation and an archaeological origin remained possible.
