Abstract: |
The evaluation, which consisted of five trenches across the site within a large surrounding moat ditch, failed to identify any structural remains of the medieval period or later. A small quantity of roof tiles were recovered. A high status residence of the bishops of Norwich or their representatives was unlikely to be located within the moat. The ditch found in Trench 3 might possibly have been a minor field boundary seen on the OS map of 1880 and another feature possibly a backfilled branch of the pond. Both features contained 19th century pottery. [Au(adp)] |
