Abstract: |
Four main archaeological features were identified. Two pits, a section of a Wessex Linear and a large possible well/pit group comprising a deep central pit surrounded by shallower pits or scoops were encountered. Pottery from these features dated to the Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age. The significance of this late date was large, as contemporary settlement at the site had not been previously recorded. It may have been that the site represented a focus of late prehistoric activity possibly associated with the nearby Iron Age Southmill Hillfort. [Au(adp)] |
