Abstract: |
A gradiometer survey was undertaken of a total of 1.6ha across the site, which identified a few ditch type responses that coincided with some of the ditches identified from the aerial photographs. Numerous weak linear and curvilinear responses were in the data and these could have indicated the presence of archaeological features. However, the indistinct nature of the anomalies meant that they could equally have related to more recent agricultural activity or natural variations within the subsoil. Several pit type responses were identified at the western edge of the survey block. These may have been of archaeological interest but, given that they lay away from the main concentration of cropmarks, it was perhaps more likely that they were natural in origin. [Au(adp)] |
