Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on the excavation of a trench for a water pipe and an associated sand trap where it crossed the line of the former Shrewsbury Canal. Although the bed of the canal was seen, it had been much disturbed by late 20th century activity at this point. The pipe trench also crossed the line of a post-medieval (and possibly medieval) mill leat which ran parallel to the canal. The remains of 20th century gravel extraction plant were also encountered.
