Abstract: |
Observations in St. Margaret's Street and Rose Lane followed by archaeological excavations between 1948-1960 and 1978-1982 on bomb sites and the site of the former Marlow Theatre revealed a complex sequence of urban settlement from the Pre-Roman Iron Age to the 19th century. These remains were overlain in part by the Marlowe Theatre erected in the mid 1980s. A variety of these deposits were revealed and recorded during the ground works. [Au(adp)] |
