Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment, supported by preliminary field survey, was undertaken of the former Drakewalls Mine. The area was subject to proposed development of a number of industrial workshops and an amenity area. Surviving structures identified within the study area included the pumping engine house, balance bob arrangments, a boiler house and compressor structure with associated chimney, smithy foundation walls, a wheelpit and an arsenic chimney. Of the seven known shafts within the study area, only surface traces of two could be identified. [AIP] |
