Abstract: |
An assessment was carried out to evaluate the archaeological potential of the site in response to proposed development. The study area contained parts of the Scheduled area of the Roman town, reflecting the high potential for deposits of this period. Medieval remains were also expected, even though the development area lay in what was thought to be back gardens of properties fronting Dyer Street. These garden soils were thought to seal earlier deposits. Further investigations were recommended, as it was perceived that the development proposals would affect any extant remains. [Au(abr)] |
