Abstract: |
The assessment was carried out in advance of proposals to redevelop the site. Significant remains of the Roman period, particularly in the form of burials and funerary monuments, have been found in the study area. Remains of the medieval and post-medieval have also been noted, most interestingly the Civil War fort built by the Royalists to protect the western defences of the city. It was thought likely that archaeological remains would be found, and a programme of mitigation was recommended. [Au(abr)] |
