Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken of the site prior to the proposed Storm Water Balancing Facility. The assessment indicated that the proposed development area was situated close to known prehistoric, Roman and medieval settlement. Due to the site's location, including and adjacent to Melton Brook, there was the potential for the existence of previous stream courses and water-logged archaeological remains. The report recommended that an appropriate scheme of archaeological investigation might initially comprise fieldwalking and geophysical survey of the access area and the area of the storage reservoir. Depending on the results of these, some targeted trial trenching may be required. [Au(adp)] |
