Abstract: |
This excavation formed part of ongoing investigations of an area in Ringlemere that was the site of a gold cup found by a metal detector. Since the find, the area has been excavated yearly to explore the archaeology of the site. The 2005 excavations recorded Early Iron Age terracing, an Anglo-Saxon cemetery, a prehistoric barrow and ring ditch and various Neolithic features including hollows, pits, hearths and post holes. Finds included Grooved Ware pottery, tranchet axes of Mesolithic type and beaker sherds. [AIP] |
