Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land proposed for development as two semi-detached dwellings. Linear spreads of material aligned north-east to south-west, distinct from the natural and containing Iron-Age, Roman and medieval pottery were revealed. They were not infilling linear features so were considered to be the slighted remains of a large bank. Both the prehistoric and Roman pottery and tile were clearly residual, but the presence of such material within deposits of medieval date indicated nearby early Roman activity/occupation. [Au(adp)] |
